In Ireland
Residential Institutions Redress Board
had made awards following hearings
to 16,650 people.
However many
survivors of Institutional Abuse were not included.
Many relatives of survivors wish to highlight the true
histories of survivors of institutional abuse
to try to make a positive contribution towards
greater awareness of the ongoing plight of so many.

I am not a researcher. I am not an archivist. I am Cliona, the daughter of one courageous campaigner. I try in my own way to endeavour to continue her positive impact.

I hope to share links re. relevant archives and research.
One example of safe wiki link for info (not edited by me) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_Buckley

I also hope to share some multi-media (where it is media pertaining to survivors true stories and based on facts).

Please see for example 2 minute video tribute to our mother by RTÉ news March 2014 as per below (safe link via youtube).

ongoing issues & resources
Please see various studies by T.C.D. / U.C.D. ; also N.U.I. Galway resources re. Mydatarights.ie
and also check-out various Institutes of Technology re. up-to-date research.
For example: it is estimated that 60% of survivors have not reported institutional abuse to the relevant authorities.
approx. 30% of vulnerable survivors of institutional abuse are at risk of homelessness according to various charities.

approx. 7% of survivors of institutional abuse do not tell any relatives about it.
Survivors who were participants in a research project which was commissioned by the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse
had spent, on average, about 5 years living with their families before entering
institutions and about 10 years living in institutions.

More than 90% had experienced institutional
physical and emotional child abuse ... about half experienced institutional child sexual abuse.
Just over a third of those who had memories
of having lived with their families reported family-based child abuse or neglect.
